Bechbretha, 'The Bee Judgements',
ancient Irish laws pertaining to the keeping and protection of bees.
I was presented with a piece of music by Hannah O'Brien and asked to put images to it. Almost immediately, I thought "bees!"
Animated in After Effects throughout. The double-exposure effect represents how bees see; at a higher rate than humans, while the ever-shifting colours represent the larger colour spectrum that is visible to them. Every texture is formed from footage of the object it represents; for instance, several images of grass are looped to add the texture, motion and shifting colours to the animated grass.
